Tucson's First In-City Casino Opens November 15 on Grant Road
Tucson's first in-city casino opens Nov. 15, 2026 at Grant Road and I-10: 928 slots, 1,562 parking spaces, 500 jobs, and a hotel not yet decided.
The Pascua Yaqui Tribe's third casino replaces a former cinema site just east of I-10. The building and garage are finished facts; a hotel is still only an idea.
On Sunday, November 15, 2026, a stretch of West Grant Road that Tucson drivers knew for a movie theater gets a very different anchor. Casino Del Sol, Vahi Taaʼam opens at 1055 W. Grant Road, just east of Interstate 10. It is the Pascua Yaqui Tribe's third gaming property and, according to the Arizona Daily Star, the first casino built inside Tucson city limits. The name means "Three Suns" in Yoeme. The tribe broke ground on a 31-acre parcel that had held several businesses and the Century 16 multiplex, so the change on that corner is bigger than one new storefront.

What Opens on November 15
Casino Del Sol describes a building of about 153,000 square feet with a 52,252-square-foot gaming floor. On it: 928 slot machines, seven bar-top gaming stations at the Center Bar, table games, a High Limit Lounge and a SolSports sportsbook. The Daily Star counted 24 table games on an August media tour. The tribe's Club Sol rewards program will work at the new property from opening day.
Food is split two ways. OP Grill is an upscale casual restaurant seating 160 to 175 on the mezzanine, with a menu the Daily Star says leans on local flavors. Sewa Market is a food court that brings three concepts from the flagship Valencia Road resort under one roof: UME for Asian fusion, Streetscape for pizza and deli, and Abuelitas Taqueria. The Center Bar, OP Grill Bar and High Limit Bar round it out. The building's signature is a 26-foot copper dome, visible from I-10, over a 24,000-square-foot interior mural by Tucson artist Joe Pagac.
Two caveats on the numbers. June coverage reported 163,000 square feet and 924 slots; this post uses Casino Del Sol's own later figures. And as of October 26 the property page lists no operating hours, so check before planning an opening-day visit.
Where It Fits Among the Tribe's Three Casinos
The tribe's gaming history starts small. Casino of the Sun, at 7406 S. Camino De Oeste, began as a bingo club in 1982 and became a full casino in 1994. Casino Del Sol on West Valencia Road followed in 2001 and is now the tribe's flagship resort. Vahi Taaʼam is the first of the three on a central-city interstate exit; the Daily Star describes it as just outside downtown. Lesah Sesma, a 15-year Casino Del Sol veteran, is the general manager.
Quick reference (October 26, 2026): Casino Del Sol, Vahi Taaʼam, 1055 W. Grant Road at Interstate 10, Tucson, AZ 85757. Opens Sunday, November 15, 2026. Gaming floor, sportsbook, OP Grill, Sewa Market food court and three bars. Parking in a four-level garage plus surface lots. Operating hours are not yet posted; Casino Del Sol's line is 1-855-SOL-STAY. Dates and details can change, so confirm with Casino Del Sol before you go.
What It Means for West Grant Road
Sesma told the Daily Star the casino could spark development along West Grant Road, a corridor she said has lost businesses largely because of recent road construction, and that she expects visitors from Casa Grande, Phoenix, Mexico and as far away as Texas. She runs the property, so read that as an operator's view rather than a forecast. The same reporting says a hotel and convention center could be added within a couple of years, but that those plans are undecided.
For anyone buying, selling or holding property near Grant Road and I-10, the useful line is between what is built and what is talked about. After November 15 the casino, its garage and its restaurants are facts on the ground, along with a payroll of up to roughly 500 positions. The hotel is not. Price a home or a commercial lease on what exists, and treat the rest as a reason to check back.
Plan for traffic, too. A property with 1,562 parking spaces now sits directly off the Grant Road interchange. If you are weighing a home or a commute that runs through it, drive it on a weekend evening after opening before you decide how much it matters to you.
