Houghton is a two-square-mile neighborhood on Tucson's far east side, inside the city limits in ZIP 85748, bounded by Speedway Boulevard on the north, 22nd Street on the south and Houghton Road on the west, with Broadway Boulevard running through the middle of it. It is an established 1990s neighborhood with new construction still going up inside it. Tucson's Mayor and Council adopted the Houghton East Neighborhood Plan over this ground in November 1985 and it is still the land-use plan here; the voluntary neighborhood association that formed in 1984 gives upholding that plan, and preserving the area's scenic and ecological character next to Saguaro National Park, as its own purpose. The park's Rincon Mountain District, on Old Spanish Trail, is about three and a half miles south-east. Across the last 301 closings the homes were built to a median year of 2004, running from 1972 to 2025, with living areas from about 1,186 to 3,473 square feet and a median near 2,080 — all three computed over the whole closed set. Rincon and Santa Catalina mountain views, covered patios and private pools recur across that sample, and some of the subdivisions inside carry a community pool, a basketball court and a neighborhood park. There is no single Houghton HOA fee, and on a third of the record no association fee is recorded at all: 39 of the 120 records carried none, spread across every build era — though a blank fee field is not itself proof that no association governs the parcel, and only three of those records say "no HOA" outright. The rest ran from about $36 a year in the 1990s subdivisions to about $1,300 a year in the newest, with one 2000s record at $2,400 — so dues are a question for the subdivision and the parcel rather than for the neighborhood. Everyday retail sits on the Houghton Road, Broadway Boulevard and 22nd Street corridors; Park Place is about six miles west along Broadway and downtown Tucson about twelve, and Houghton Road runs south from the neighborhood's western edge to its Interstate 10 interchange, roughly eight miles. Homes are in the Tucson Unified School District, with Soleng Tom Elementary, Gridley Middle and Sahuaro High returned as the assigned schools; confirm attendance by address. The $350,000 to $575,000 band this page publishes is where the typical sale lands rather than the outer edge of the record: 13 of the last 301 closings came in under $350,000, the lowest at $293,410, and 47 cleared $575,000, the highest at $1,055,000. The average closed price is near $482,000 and the median $469,900.
