About Armory Park

Tucson's second-oldest residential historic district, tucked just south of downtown between 12th and 19th Streets. Armory Park took shape in the 1880s when the Southern Pacific Railroad reached Tucson, drawing railroad workers, merchants, and Eastern transplants who built the city's first wave of Victorian, Queen Anne, and Colonial Revival homes — styles you'll find almost nowhere else in the Sonoran Desert. The neighborhood takes its name from the U.S. Army armory that occupied the site from 1862 to 1873 before relocating to Fort Lowell.
